Between collaborations, Pankaj continues to write, produce, and edit Brahm, a series of ten short mystery films made in Hindi and English. Filmed on the streets of Blacktown and Parramatta, the episodes run between two and ten minutes and often feature family, friends, volunteers, and local actors.
“ They all carry social messages about how doing right produces good karma or‘ khama’ as I call it, and they’ ve proven very popular,” he said.
In addition to film, Pankaj’ s creative output extends to poetry written in both Hindi and English. His poems have been published in newspapers in India and Australia and have introduced local theatre productions, such as Rising from the Phoenix.
Twice a month, he reads his work aloud on the YouTube radio channel KEHTE-SUNTE, alternating between English and Hindi performances.
Beyond the screen and stage, Pankaj devotes time to community service through the Harman Foundation, a Blacktown based charity that supports people from sub-continent communities dealing with domestic violence, grief, loss, and homelessness.
Every Thursday evening, the foundation provides free meals from 5.30pm at Westpoint and Pankaj is there volunteering. He also produces educational videos documenting the organisation’ s work and impact.
“ I’ m giving back for all the love and blessings I’ ve received,” he said.“ Anything I can do for the community and the country that has embraced me as its own.”
As Pankaj now turns his focus to his upcoming audio visual podcast a tribute to the artistic spirit of Blacktown he remains motivated by gratitude, not controversy.
“ I’ m here to give back, to celebrate what unites us,” he said.“ It’ s about community, not division.”
For a man whose life bridges continents, languages, and art forms, the label Mr Versatility feels entirely fitting. Whether through film, poetry, or quiet service, Pankaj Upadhayay continues to prove that creativity, compassion, and curiosity can coexist beautifully, and thrive, right here in Western Sydney.
