Finding sanctuary
The 95th Country Women’ s Association of NSW Nepean Group Conference and Annual General Meeting was held recently at Wenty Leagues Club. This is an annual get together of the CWA Nepean Group branches from Blacktown, Castle Hill, Fairfield, Galston, Greystanes, Hawkesbury Evening, Kurrajong, Richmond, Toongabbie and Windsor.
It was a very productive conference that gave many members the opportunity to catch up with their CWA sisters from across Western Sydney. Congratulations to all the new Nepean Group Officers elected for the 2025 / 26 year.
This year’ s keynote speaker was Carol from The Hills Women’ s Shelter known as The Sanctuary. This wonderful
Recent AGM of local CWA group branches. organisation provides temporary supported accommodation for women and their children who are victims of domestic violence or homelessness.
The Sanctuary is part of the Women’ s Community Shelters network( WCS) and whilst they receive funding from WCS, they mostly rely upon donations and support from the community.
Carol described the beautiful care given to the women and children who arrive at their facility and the counselling services that are provided. The Nepean CWA branches presented Carol with gift cards for their clients to use to buy groceries and clothing.
