Westpoint Shopping Centre welcomes IMAX ® with Laser and SCREENX to HOYTS elevating entertainment in Western Sydney

Haben is reshaping the entertainment landscape in Western Sydney with a major investment that positions Westpoint Shopping Centre as the region’ s leading lifestyle and leisure destination. In partnership with HOYTS and asset coowner Hines, Haben is delivering a suite of world-class cinema formats that will make Westpoint the only location in New South Wales to house IMAX ® with Laser, SCREENX, Xtremescreen and D-BOX all under one roof.
Launched on Wednesday 19 November, and just in time for Wicked: For Good, SCREENX is set to transform movie going in Blacktown. As the world’ s first
multi-projection format, SCREENX extends the film beyond the main screen onto both side walls to create a 270-degree panoramic view during select scenes. The result is a breathtaking sense of immersion, giving audiences the feeling of stepping directly into the story.
This month, IMAX with Laser will take the experience even further when it opens at HOYTS Blacktown in mid-December, debuting with Avatar: Fire and Ash. The new IMAX auditorium will feature a massive screen, advanced laser projection and precision-tuned audio that together deliver crystal-clear visuals and powerful, true-to-life sound.
Ben Finger, Managing Director & Co-Founder of Haben, said the investment marks a defining moment for both the centre and the wider community.
“ This is a game-changer for Westpoint and for Blacktown. We’ re proud to be the only destination in NSW offering IMAX with Laser, SCREENX, Xtremescreen and D-BOX under one roof. It’ s an incredible drawcard for our community and
reinforces Westpoint as the true heart of entertainment in Western Sydney.”
Damian Keogh, President & CEO of The HOYTS Group, said the expansion reflects HOYTS’ commitment to delivering the highest quality cinema experiences.
“ We’ re thrilled to bring IMAX and SCREENX to HOYTS Blacktown, giving Western Sydney audiences access to the most immersive cinema experiences
available anywhere in the world. This is part of our ongoing commitment to innovation and creating unforgettable moments for our guests.”
Together, these upgrades signal a major milestone for Blacktown and the broader Western Sydney region, bringing entertainment offerings once reserved for select global cities directly to local audiences.
