A host of future Australian sporting greats were born in 1975 and this year celebrate their 50th birthdays .
No doubt they will be celebrating achieving their half century in this place as well as reminiscing about their sporting achievements .
Let ’ s have a gander as to who was born back then .
Athletics : Jane Jamieson won gold at the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games .
Baseball : Pitcher Trent Durrington was good enough to pitch in the USA Major Leagues .
Boxing : Anthony Mundine , Gairy St Clair .
Cricket : Michael Hussey , Jason Gillespie , Andrew Symonds , Simon Katich , Stuart Clark
Cycling : Katie Mactier won the pursuit at the 2005 world titles and World Cup and the 2006 Commonwealth Games . Golf : Brendan Jones . Rugby Union : Chris Latham , Joe Rolf . Rugby League : Brad Drew , Matt Geyer . Softball : Natalie Ward competed in four Olympics and made record 357 appearances for Australia .

Soccer : Socceroos Mark Viduka , Craig Moore , Scott Chipperfield , Ante Covic , Clint Bolton , Paul Agostino .
Volleyball : Natalie Cook was an
Olympic gold medalist and the first woman to compete at five Olympic Games .
Triathlon : Loretta Harrop appeared in two Olympics , finishing fifth in 2000m and winning silver in 2004 .

Athletics : At the Australian championships , Victorian Laurie Peckham won his seventh successive high jump title , Chris Commons won his third successive long jump titles and Charlene Rendina snared the third of her five 800m titles .
Madagacan , Jean-Louis Raveomanantsoa became the first ( and only second ) man to win the 120m Stawell Gift off scratch . New Zealander , John Walker , became first man to break 3m . 50secs for the mile , stopping the clock at 3.49.5 .
Aussie Rules : North Melbourne won VFL Premiership , beating Hawthorn 19.8 ( 122 ) to 89.13 ( 67 ).
Baseball : Cincinnati Reds won World Series 4-3 over Boston Red Sox .
Basketball : Golden State Warriors whitewash Washington Bullets to win NBA Championship .
Boxing : Muhammad Ali beats Joe Frazier to reclaim World Heavyweight title
after the Thrilla in Manilla .
Cricket : West Indies beat Australia by 17 runs to win the inaugural Cricket World Cup . Western Australia wins Sheffield ahead of Queensland .
Cycling : Bernard Thevenet won the Tour de France .
Golf : Major Winners were , Jack Nicklaus ( US Masters , US PGA ), Lou Graham ( US Open ), British Open ( Tom Watson ). US beat Britain and Ireland to win Ryder Cup .
Harness Racing : New Zealander Young Quinn had a meritorious year , winning both the Miracle Mile and Inter Dominion Pacing Championship .
Horse Racing : Think Big with Harry White in the saddle , won the Melbourne Cup from Holiday Wagon and Medici . Analight won the Caulfield Cup and Toy Show was victor in the Golden Slipper . Grundy won the English Derby while in the US , Foolish Pleasure took out the Derby , and over in France , Star Appeal won the Prix de l ’ Arc de Triomphe .
Motorsports : Niki Lauda won the Formula One title , and John McCormack , the Australian Drivers ’ championship .
Rugby League : NSWRL : Easts thrashed St George 38-0 in a match in which Saints ’ captain-coach , Graeme Langlands , had a shocker thanks to an ill-directed pain killing injection . Australia won the World Cup on the point score table , finishing with 13 points from six wins , one draw and one loss – one point ahead of England . St
Helens won their seventh English Rugby Football League Championship .
Rugby Union : Wales won the Five Nations Championship in beating Scotland in front of 104,000 fans at Edinburgh ’ s Murrayfield Stadium . The Sydney Championship was won by Northern Suburbs who broke Randwick ’ s stranglehold on titles .
Snooker : Welshman Ray Reardon , beat Australia ’ s Eddie Charlton 31-30 to win the World Championship .
Soccer : Derby County won English League Championship , two points clear of Liverpool and Ipswich City . West Ham won the FA Cup , defeating Fulham 2-0 and Bayern Munich won European Cup , beating Leeds United 2-0 .
Swimming : Jenny Turrall was the only Australian to win a gold medal at the World Championships , taking out the 800m freestyle .
Tennis : Australian Open singles were won by John Newcombe and Evonne Goolagong , Bjorn Borg and Chris Evert won the French Open , Wimbledon was taken out by Arthur Ashe and Billie-Jean King , and US Open singles were won by Manuel Orantes and Chris Evert .
In the Davis Cup Sweden beat Czechoslovakia 3-2 .
