As the world shifts , focus on science , technology , engineering , and mathematics ( STEM ) becomes more important than ever .
Knowledge within different areas of STEM is important when it comes to building your skillset and spreading that knowledge to those around you .
At Mountain View Adventist College , we make STEM the focus .
We ’ re proud to be one of 10 schools recently accepted into the University of Sydney ’ s STEM Academy Program .
As a result of this program , we have access to resources that help embed STEM into our school and curriculum , particularly for our primary school students . The University of Sydney provides us with consulting , resources , and subsidises any costs we may incur , with the students able to put together projects that pique their interest and build their skills .
All of this interest in STEM has even led to a keen interest in robotics in particular . We ’ ve since partnered with RoboThink to host after school robotics and coding workshops for our students .
Putting in this work to help upskill our teachers in different STEM areas means that they in turn can help students feel excited about science , technology , engineering , and mathematics .
