Our treasured Anzac Day on 25 April is a moving event so pop along to a local service to commemorate our brave service men and women who have served and who are still serving . Our history piece highlights local men who lost their lives in battle , p18 / 19 .
Organisations big and small are helping those in need . Ed Husic MP gives a shout out to the Foodbank at Glendenning who prepare thousands of meals every week for locals doing it tough , p21 . Also , One Meal Blacktown have been helping the homeless each Saturday for the past six years come rain , hail or shine . Joanne Oliver , coordinator , is the winner of last year ’ s Westfield Local Hero award and goes above and beyond to improve the lives of those who are struggling , p11 .
Blacktown City Council awarded Angela Van Dyke its recent Woman of the Year award ; Angela is CEO of North West Community Services in Riverstone , p6 / 7 .

NWCC ’ s doors are always open and provide a variety of services to help people in need and remain connected with others . Angela says , ‘ her belief in humanity drives the work conducted at the centre ’.
Get down to Dawson Mall in Mt Druitt and check out the new look ! This refurbished space has new lighting , play equipment , shade , artwork and landscaping . The improvements help provide a safer and more inviting community space .
Local youth and seniors are recognised and it ’ s gongs all around . Blacktown City Youth Ambassadors Jamison Dustin and Annacemone Nashid ’ s stories are on p9 .
