Andrijana scores best sound design award
A young Blacktown sound designer has won the best sound design category at the TAFE NSW Innovative Music Mixing Awards .
Andrijana Vunic , 29 , won the gong for her sound mix of the Brazilian TV series ‘ Invisible City ’ which will help continue to pave her way forward into a music career in the film industry .
The prestigious awards are presented state-wide every year in partnership with TAFE NSW , leading audio software and video editing company Avid and technology company Innovative Music .
This year , winners hailed from Wollongong , Ultimo and Nirimba colleges in categories such as best mix of an original composition , and best original sound design for film , game or podcast .
Andrijana is completing an Advanced Diploma of Sound Production at TAFE NSW Nirimba this semester , and hopes to crack into the film industry once she graduates .
“ I would love to work as a composer or in sound design in the film industry and winning this award is a step in the right direction ,” Andrijana said .
“ I love watching international movies . It ’ s a great way to learn new languages and understand the soundtracks of other films .”
TAFE NSW Creative and Design Ideation Industry Innovation Specialist Steve Bull said the awards are a culmination of a successful partnership with Avid .
“ TAFE NSW works closely with industry to set our students up for a successful career ,” Mr Bull said .
“ Avid provided hundreds of students with free subscriptions to their music software throughout the pandemic so they could continue to learn from home .
“ The winners of the awards have received more editing software and products from Avid and Innovative Music to give them the best start to their music journey .”
Avid Technology ’ s Shauna Purcell said the company was thrilled to be a part of this exclusive and unique opportunity to support next-gen users ’ creativity .
“ Our relationship with TAFE NSW has always been strong , but we ’ re excited to see it grow by the continuous efforts of the TAFE NSW staff with their innovative ideas on how to collaborate further , to support their student ’ s creativity and progression in the music industry ,” Ms Purcell said .
In 2020 , the value of Australia ’ s music industry dropped to $ 86 million due to COVID-19 but is projected to increase to around $ 839 million by 2024 as live music and the creative arts industry roars back to life , according to a report by Statista .
