The month of May sees the return of some of Blacktown City ’ s biggest and best community events .

Sixteen days are packed with all sorts of entertainment , food and dining , markets , shopping , exhibitions and celebrations .

Here ’ s some of what ’ s on below and check out page 4 of this month ’ s edition for other events including the annual two day Medieval Fayre and Banquet .

Riverstone Festival Saturday 14 May , 9am to 3pm Mill Street Park

A day full of activities and entertainment for the whole family , including food and market stalls , stage performances , amusement rides and workshops .

The huge street parade starts at 11am with local community groups , car clubs , marching bands and schools . Outback Blacktown Country Music Festival Sunday 15 May , 12 to 5pm Nurragingy Reserve Doonside

The inaugural Country Music Festival will feature Simply Bushed , Cassidy-Rae , Kirsty Lee Akers , Luke O ’ Shea , Amber Lawrence and headliners Melinda

Schneider and Mark Gable .

It will have plenty of free activities for the kids to enjoy on the day . Pack a picnic basket and rug , or purchase some food and refreshments onsite from one of the food truck operators .

Sample and purchase the best seasonal harvest of Rouse Hill Estate at this foodie festival .

Discover the story behind your food and listen to a range of fascinating talks and live food demonstrations . Meet local artisan producers and be inspired by traditional food production as you taste , savour , browse , and shop from a handpicked selection of products , including jams and relishes , teas , cured meats , artisan bread , cheeses and more .

Explore the property and hear the stories that reveal the life of the estate over 160 years . Take a peek inside the historic house , view outbuildings , meet farm animals , bring a picnic or grab a bite at the food vendor stalls .

food-focused tours of the property , kids activities include butter making , craft activities inspired by Sydney Living Museums collection , help farmer Gareth feed the cows . Seniors Gala Concert Tuesday 17 May , 11am to 1pm Blacktown Workers Club

String Diva combines the extraordinary talents of three stunning and talented musicians who will perform on stage for a special seniors event .

The show will also feature A Night of Stars cast , which have starred in international shows including Les Miserable , Phantom of the Opera and Jesus Christ Superstar .

See all your favourite Sesame Street characters , including Elmo , Cookie Monster , Abby Cadabby , Bert and Ernie , Super Grover and Big Bird . With locally written and produced music sung by all the much-loved Sesame Street voices . Tickets available on Eventbrite .

F . A . M Fest ( Food , Art , Music ) Fri , Sat , Sun , 27-29 May , 5pm to 9pm

F . A . M Fest will temporarily close streets to cars and open them to the community in the CBD , activating an exciting nighttime economy and encouraging people to play , shop and buy local .

The festival will be held over three days and will feature food trucks , neon light activities , live performances by local artists , craft workshops and lawn games .

Kids entertainment includes performances by Paw Patrol , Shimmer and Shine , Cocomelon and Wiggle and Friends show . Streets Alive and Parade Day Saturday 28 May , 9am to 4pm

The Streets Alive and Parade Day returns to Blacktown CBD , bringing an array of colour and entertainment to the streets .

Featuring five performance areas , art and crafts , market stalls , free amusement rides , roving entertainment and an international food market , there will be something for the entire family to enjoy . Commencing at 11am , a vibrant and spectacular street parade will travel through the CBD , showcasing Blacktown ’ s multiculturalism , our history and emergency services .
