Richmond Road choked : Husic
As the north-western Sydney residential boom continues to gain momentum , Chifley MP Ed Husic told parliament families chasing the dream of a home and comfortable life are finding it turning into a nightmare , as infrastructure is not keeping pace .
“[ Infrastructure ] is not helping them . Case in point : Richmond Road … from Dean Park , Glendenning , Colebee to Marsden Park , that road is always choked in both directions , peak hour , nonpeak hour , weekdays , weekends ,” he said .
“ It is always the same and it is simply intolerable for people spending a lot of time trying to get to where they need to , and industry is worried they are losing the ability to maintain their operations in our part of Western Sydney .
“ The government announced two things . They said they would put in money to plan for the future upgrade of that road . That is fine … but , as my constituents rightly point out , $ 50 million for planning instead of the hard cash to do the widening of the road beggars belief . We need that infrastructure support , and we need it now .”

Ramadan draws good company
Greenway MP Michelle Rowland and Blacktown Mayor Tony Bleasdale attended the Afghan Community Support Association ’ s special Iftar recently .
The pair ( pictured ) enjoyed several Iftar dishes - meals eaten by Muslims after sunset during Ramadan .
“ Ramadan is the ninth month of the Muslim calendar , beautifully described this evening as ‘ 30 days of hope and strength ’,” Ms Rowland said .
“ It is also a reason for people to come together . Every year I look forward to the delicious food and great company during this holy month .”
A 2pm school zone for Hambledon Motorists will see new road safety measures are now in place for roads adjacent to
Hambledon Public School as its 40km / h speed limit period has been extended . The existing 2.30-4pm school zone time has changed to 2-4pm . The morning school zone times from 8-9.30am remain in place . Riverstone MP Kevin Conolly said the school zone infrastructure upgrade covers five streets and four intersections .
“ The earlier start of the afternoon school zone accommodates students finishing at 2.15pm , under staggered dismissal times introduced to reduce exposure to COVID-19 ,” Mr Conolly said .
“ The 2pm school zone start time protects students and enables the school crossing supervisor to operate at appropriate times while keeping the entire community safe .”
The work and signage replacements affect Whitehaven Avenue , Bali Drive , Morrell Crescent , Sonter Street and Isaac Place at Quakers Hill .
