How the Dominican Friars Have
Changed Our Lives

My wife and I are profoundly grateful to
belong to the Dominican parish of Saint
Joseph’s in Greenwich Village. It is blessed
with a community of Friars, including two
who were recently ordained. The quality of
preaching at Mass is evidence of each new
student brother’s meticulous preparation
for the priesthood.
During my courtship with my wife, Katherine,
my pastor, Father John McGuire, O.P., met
with us on numerous occasions to help us
understand the gravity of our commitment
in marriage. Katherine and I knew during
our joy-filled wedding ceremony at Saint
Joseph’s–with Father McGuire at the altar–
that we had found our spiritual home. In 2013,
we had the additional honor of receiving a
marriage blessing from Pope Francis.
In June, we were blessed with a new child,
Keira. At Keira’s baptism, Father McGuire
presided at the service along with Brother
