Peace.
High. My name is Jihad. Jihad Muhammad. I did not name myself. No. I am not a terrorist. No. I did not convert to Islam in jail. No. I am not even a Muslim. It’s painful to have to explain all of these things to people. It's even more painful to have to defend yourself from entitled people. All I am is a man that is learning.
Now that’s out the way, a lot has happened since the last issue. Tupac’s Birthday, R.I.P., you did so much for all people through your music, movies and all of your activism. I also had the honor and pleasure of being a guest on Intellectual Radio’s The Dope Show with Kiana Hughes. Make sure you go subscribe to their YouTube page. There was June 20th, a couple of people I love had birthdays and we all gained an ancestor in Prodigy. I’m not going to start with the theories. I suggest you go listen to his catalog of music. I dedicated Fire For the Dub to bro.
Officer Yanez testified that the smell of “burnt marijuana” made him believe that his life was in danger. He stated that “And I thought if he’s, if he has the, the guts and the audacity to smoke marijuana in front of the five-year-old girl and risk her lungs and risk her life by giving her second hand smoke and the front seat passenger was doing the same thing, what care do they give about me. And, I let off the rounds and then after the rounds went off, the little girl was screaming”. That is absolutely terrifying to me. That an officer of the law would even fire into a vehicle with a five-year-old child in it. Yanez was exonerated of any wrong doing in the death of Philando Castile.
I was asked, why is the magazine called “black”. The main reason is, that is what society looks at us as. That is what comes across the police officers radio. That is what is on the applications and identifications. Black-balled, black-list, black-mail etc., all mean negative. I want to bring a positive connotation to the word black. I want to bring some respect, dignity and honor to “black” consumers, patients, activist, entrepreneurs, advocates, mothers, fathers, caregivers, budtenders, and growers of this versatile vegetation. Black Marijuana Magazine does not aim to exclude anyone. I just want to do my part to keep people of color included in the ever growing evolution of cannabis. On that note, sit back, relax and catch a contact, bite your edible, sip your infusion, light up, dab, and last but not least, get ready to ingest the next issue of Black MJ Magazine.

PEACE, It's time to build,
WOW, so much has happened since our premier issue and
in reality there is so much to cover in this issue. As
I talk with friends and colleagues about what is
happening in the cannabis industry, we have some
challenging times ahead but we also have some exciting
things going on that will give us an opportunity to do
things differently with more attention to our collective
purpose.
As the editor of this most important magazine we are
the voice of not a new generation but we are the voice
a unique situation. We will cover everything from A-Z
as it pertains to our culture, our uniqueness and our
creativity within the cannabis space. Our content will
encompass government, business, cultivation, Law, real
estate, banking, investing, entertainment, education
and anything related to cannabis with the urban
spectrum.
We all come from many different fields and traditions, and
this second issue serves as our testament of who we are and
what we are capable of doing together related to cannabis.
Later in the issue, we’ll have thoughts ranging from our
cover story that is Simply Pure with Mrs.Wanda James to
Veterans Health Solutions with Mr. Life D. Griffith. We are
are the verge of something huge and we need your input to
ensure that our stories, success and our growth are heard
and shared globally.
Over these past few months, I was asked why is the magazine
called Black Marijuana Magazine. Well, since prohibition we,
as original people, were seen as a negative influence,
especially with the propaganda machine that continues to
plaque us in society. I want and need to bring a new respect
of dignity and honor to those who have and are paving the
way with this growing evolution of cannabis. More important,
I want to change the perspective on how we are seen, espec
ially now as legalization becomes more prominent across the
country.
In our first issue, we introduced you to the idea, for this
second issue, we’d especially like to invite you to give us
your comments and feedback on what we can do better to serve
you our readers and supporters. Now sit back, relax and ingest
this next issue of the Black MJ Magazine.
