About The Authors
Courtney Mickens is a Non-Profit Administration Major at Cleveland State Universities College of Urban Affairs. Currently he works for the Boy's and Girl's Club of Cleveland as a Site-Coordinator in one of CMSD's Schools. Courtney enjoys kicking back with friends and having a few brews. He is a senior that will be graduating in May.
Mrs. Benne Christian is a Social Work Major with a Black Studies Minor. She likes to be known as a non-traditional student. She is a retired Real Estate Manager in the Non-Profit sector.
Ashley Grayer is a Social Work Major with a Minor in Sociology. She is currently in her junior year at Cleveland State University. She
enjoys being a Resident Assistant in Euclid Commons and a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
Rachel Griffin is an only child and a sophomore at Cleveland State University majoring in art.
After she graduates, she wants to become a photojournalist and move to New York. She heard of
segregation, the Civil Rights Movement and some of the people who were involved but didn’t know
much about them. During this semester, she was able to learn that not only people played apart in the
changes that took place during that time period, but music as well.
