1 . What type of business do you run ? Education non profit ( NPC ) 2 . How long has your business been running for ? Since 2003 – officially since 2006
3 . What motivated you to start your own business ? I am a teacher who can teach Biology , Maths and Science . I had ( with a friend ) started a company called Future Nature Edu that facilitated young people from around the world to participate in service projects In rural South Africa ( specifically Philippolis in the Free State ) I had become involved in the local High School supporting the Matric learners with extra classes . It was the first time I had worked in a rural space , and I was inspired by the talent and potential of these young students . And began to wonder how we could support the students in taking their next steps , be it university or further training or getting connected into the world of work . Good Work Foundation had its beginnings there .
4 . What steps did you take to get you going ? We just got started . We did as much as we could with what we had . Then the first official project we had was to Partner with the VGK Kerk in Bergmanshoogte , the Philippolis NG Kerk and the community of Philippolis to build a preschool in Bergmanshoogte . This was the first project that we fundraised and built , and it inspired us to do more .
We then formalised Good Work Foundation as a company and started to grow the mission . In 2007 we started to add projects in rural Mpumalanga ( Bushbuckridge ). And in 2011 we began building on a Digital Learning Campus- and GWF in its current form began . Using the advances in technology to bring excellence in education and opportunities to young rural South Africans
