China-Latin America Business Summit

Introduction:

China-Latin America Business Summit aims to focus on the key issues to the interest of China-Latin America business circles, with a broader prospect of international economic & trade development trend. Elite speakers including senior political leaders, renowned experts, representatives from international organizations and financial institutions, together with entrepreneurs from China and Latin America countries, are invited to discuss on China-Latin America trade & investment policies and market opportunities in panel sessions.

The 6th China-LAC Business Summit co-hosted by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the People’s Bank of China (PBC), Hangzhou Municipal Government and Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) convened in Hangzhou on October 17-18. Ablet Abdurishit, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Wan Jifei, Chairman of CCPIT, Li Chao, Deputy Administrator of State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE), Huang Kunming, Hangzhou Party Secretary, Shao Zhanwei, Mayor of Hangzhou, Luis Alberto Moreno, President of IDB and Alicia Bárcena, Executive Director of Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), together with senior government officials of economic departments from different LAC countries, attended and addressed the summit. Over 400 foreign entrepreneurs from 30 countries and regions, joined with nearly 800 Chinese entrepreneurs from 26 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions gathered in the summit under the theme of “Trade and Investment Transformation, Greater Development” and held discussions on issues including upgrading bilateral investment, adding value to bilateral trade, financial services and the real economy, smart cities, trade in services, natural resources and SMEs’ development, etc. Different kinds of business activities were conducted during the summit as well, including the Roundtable Conference for China and LAC Trade Promotion Organizations, the China-LAC Business Exhibition, and over 1000 one-on-one business match-making meetings as well as local factory visits. Besides, China-Latin America Business Council was officially launched by CCPIT Chairman Wan Jifei at the occasion of the summit, witnessed by Vice Chairman Ablet Abdurishit, senior government officials and leaders of commercial chambers as well as nearly 1,000 entrepreneurs from home and abroad.
