The spacious and majestic buildings
punctuated with landscaped courtyards
emphasise the character of the Institute as a
citadel of learning. The campus hosts well-
planned academic blocks, computer centres,
and a five-storeyed air-conditioned learning
centre, lecture halls, state-of-the-art
laboratories, a hi-tech language laboratory, a
yoga centre, air-conditioned conference halls,
staff quarters, hostels, and students' centres.
Plentiful avenues for physical development
have also been provided. Hostels (separate for
boys and girls) spell comfort and class.
Students are assured of nutritious and hygienic
food. The students' centres have been
equipped adequately to encourage indoor
games and recreation facilities. These centres
are replete with an entertainment hall
comprising of a giant television set and a movie
projection system
The academic blocks consist of 185 well-
furnished classrooms, all equipped with LCD
projection systems, 175 well-equipped
laboratories, 20 centrally air conditioned
computer centres with more than 1900 state-
of-the-art nodes, 50 workstations, and 43
powerful servers are available to students
round-the-clock with an access to 100 Mbps
I n t e r n e t c o n n e c t i v i t y. A m o n g t h e
distinguishing features of the Institute is the
air conditioned seminar hall with a capacity to
seat 180 students, for every department, each
provided with ultramodern audiovisual
communication equipment including LCD
projectors. There is also an auditorium with
high-tech facilities and a seating capacity of
700 students. The entire campus is networked
with optical fibre. Wi-Fi facility has also been
provided in the hostels
The five storeyed, air conditioned and fully
automated new learning centre in 89,000 sq. ft
area provides the teaching and learning
support with 75,000 volumes of text and
reference books with RFID based Library
Management System. In addition, the library
subscribes 400 National and International
Journals and 6184 e-journals. Frequent
updating of the collection and fully
computerized systems go towards endearing
the library to the students. In addition, a digital
library has been established with 6500 CD
ROMs and 100 computer systems
Apart from exemplary infrastructural facilities, the
Institute also offers a host of allied resources - a co-
operative store, bank with ATM, Higginbothams book
store, post office, a modern cafeteria, reprography
centre, STD booth, gym, playgrounds for cricket,
football, badminton, state-of-the-art acrylic courts for
tennis, volley ball & basket ball, a clinic with
residential doctors and transportation facilities - that
go on to make the BIT experience truly enriching.
Protected RO treated drinking water facility is
provided, along with uninterrupted power supply
with 1550 KVA generator backup. 33 % of the energy
demand is met by roof - top solar panels (600 KWP)
Adequate transport facilities are provided to the day
students and the staff commuting from Erode, Gobi,
Bhavani, Anthiur, Coimbatore, Mettupalayam, and
Tirupur
The Institute has a reputation for cutting edge
research and industry- institute interaction. It has a
dynamic environment combining traditional
academic excellence with an innovative attitude to
undertake funded projects from state and central
government organisations like DRDO, DST, TNSCST,
CSIR, DBT, DIT, MNRE, AICTE, Tamil Virtual
University, etc. The Anna University Training and
Development Communication Channel (AUTDCC) – a
two-way interactive class under academic
partnership programme with Anna University, the
Centre for Continuing Education, Entrepreneurship
Development Centre, a separate Cell for Human
Resource, and Training & Placement are the
hallmarks of the Institute
Co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are also
considered with due importance. This is visible in the
form of student clubs. There are around 75 student
clubs catering to the varying needs of students. The
clubs and societies aim at tapping the innate talents of
our students on scientific, technological, and cultural
forums, and monitor the activities to ensure that the
students acquire hands-on training. The clubs are
catagorised into Technical Clubs / Professional
Societies and Liberal Arts Clubs (Clusters). The
Technical Clubs/Professional Societies are attached
to respective departments. The Liberal Arts Clubs
focus on cultural aspects and it includes Job Oriented
Clubs, Student Development Clubs, Fine Arts Clubs
and Social Services Clubs. These clubs promote
