Ishwar is not God, he is ‘sthita pragnya’. God is a concept. All of us have God in us. Swami Vivekananda said believe in your dignity. If you think you are gods, you will never do ungodly things. What is Godly things, God loves everyone. God doesn't make any distinctions. That's what yoga teaches us, that's what ancient wisdom teaches us. That's what modern science should teach us. We don't want a science which is controlled, which is a business, the establishment.
Religion is to make you a human being, from an animal that you were when you were born. We should all have a religious bent of mind. A true religion says, all of us are same, all of us are children of God. All of us are the same cells. Trying to help others is not doing service to them. It is service to you.
That is why our ancestors said, 'Paropakarthamidam Shariram'. I always tell my students, each one atleast reach one, as a human being. You must look after the whole community, the whole world. We are all same. This cast, creed, religion, these are all artificial, man-made. We are all one family. ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’.
Religion and Science are the two faces of the same coin. Both are entreprises. Both are big businesses. But not Sanatana Dharma. It is not for making money.
Acupressure from India, specially from Siddha and Ayurveda - in siddha it is called as verbally, pressure points, - went to China through Travellers and it became acupuncture there, came back because the government then in 1948 supported that,where as our government in 1947, they condemned Ayurveda. Our rulers didn't encourage Ayurveda. They condemned it. You cannot practice Ayurveda in Newyork legally, but you can practice Accupunture in New York.
But today Ayurveda has become so popular even in the west. There are 70 places of Ayurveda in America. There are 4 Ayurvedic medical colleges in America. And there are lots of practitioners of Ayurveda in America. Ayurveda is accepted in the west as a science. And Ayurveda is a Holistic science. It understands the body as a whole.
You get a disease when You are worried about body. Many times it is the faith that cures. You don't die with any disease necessarily. Folk medicine survived for 1300 years in India. Many folk medicines got into Ayurveda. Otherwise the principle of Ayurveda is - and this is the greatest philosophy in Indian Medical Science and that is - preserve the wellness of the healthy, it is very lucrative. Now if you find four people and say I will dialize them, it is very expensive, definitely they will die anyway. Dialysis is throwing away your misery for some more time and making money at the same time.
Today we have become adept at making money at human misery. But Hippocrates , our father said, never make money in the sick room. Now if you come back from the hospital, you will come back with the disease. It is never cured in any way. It is just fooling.
Ayurveda is accepted in the west as a science.
