According to BBC, the new strain of the Corona virus was noticed in the month of September. All the new cases detected in November have been infected by this new strain. It is reported that around 1100 people have been infected by this new strain of the virus at 60 different places in Britain. It has been named as ‘VUI-202012/01’.

As people have been travelling freely among Britain and other European countries, this virus spread easily to countries like France, Italy, Austria etc. Anyone would wonder now that if the British government had already detected the new strain of the virus in September, why did it wait till 20th December to announce its existence? The reason is that Britain started using Pfizer’s mRNA vaccine only this month. If it had been announced earlier, the present vaccine of Pfizer would prove useless.

Even a young student of science would know that when a mutation takes place in a virus, the old vaccine for the virus becomes ineffective. All the vaccines being developed around the world for the novel Corona virus are based on its old avatar. If the virus takes on a new avatar now, the old vaccine can have no effect on it, making all the current vaccines useless.

The new strain of the virus in Britain is now seen in 62% of the Corona cases. Only 28% of the cases are reported to have the older Corona virus. Scientists have noticed 23 differences in the old and the new strain of the Corona virus. They have expressed surprise at so many differences found in the virus in such a little time. Two of these 23 differences are related to the spike protein. It is a sharp material which can scratch through the outer layer of human cells and penetrate into the body. The antibodies that the human body creates are based on this spike protein. The vaccine developed by scientists is also based on the appearance of the spike protein. If this spike protein itself gets mutated, the old vaccine is unable to fight the new virus. Millions of doses of vaccine have already been prepared in India and many other countries keeping in mind the spike protein of the old Corona virus. Pharma companies are worried that billions of doses will go waste leading to huge financial losses to them. Hence, they have started relying on lies.

It is a matter of pure scientific research and tests to ascertain whether the old vaccines will give protection against the new strain found in Britain. It will be difficult to reach any conclusion until the new strain is isolated in a laboratory and is experimented upon. Experts opine that whether the old vaccine will protect us against the new virus is a matter of debate. One cannot be sure until results of experiments are announced. Yet, companies developing the vaccine have started propagating in the media that their vaccine will give full protection against the new virus as well. It is yet to be ascertained whether their vaccines will give protection against the old Corona virus. The trials are still going on and results are awaited.

How can then one believe that their vaccine will give protection against the new virus without any trials? The new strain of the virus has already been present in Britain since the month of September. One cannot be sure if the new virus has not reached India by now. How wise will it be to give doses of old vaccine to the citizens of India? The government of India should wait for the results of the trials before starting the vaccination drive.
