Aves Argentinas and the
National School of fishing
have signed a joint agreement to collaborate
in the coming years. The two organisations
plan to exchange information and work
together to embed bird-friendly practices
into the fishing industry, in the process
changing fishing culture and breaking down
barriers between fishers and conservationists.
The agreement was signed in Mar del Plata
this May.

A proposal to build
a wind farm in a
dangerous location for birds has
been halted with the help of BirdLife
South Africa. Inyanda Roodeplaat
Wind Farm in the Eastern Cape would
have been located near a protected
area, in the direct flightpath of large
numbers of raptors. Originally given
government approval, the plan was
put on ice following an appeal.
