NEET TO BE HELD ACROSS 41 CITIES IN DECEMBER
The National Eligibility-cum- Entrance Test for entrance to MD / MS / PG Diploma Courses in terms of Section 10 of the Indian Medical Council Act , 1956 as amended in 2016 shall be conducted by the National Board of Examinations at 41 cities from 5th to 13th December , 2016 .
As per the notification from the Union Health Ministry , this examination shall be held in 86 test centers as a Computer Based Test and shall comprise of 300 Multiple Choice Questions from the MBBS curriculum followed at medical colleges in India duly prescribed as per the Graduate Medical Education Regulation notified by Medical Council of India with prior approval of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare , Government of India .
NEET-PG is a single window entrance examination for entry to MD / MS / Post Diploma courses . No other examination either at state level or institutional level entrance examination conducted by medical colleges / institutions shall be valid as per the Indian Medical Council Act , 1956 with effect from 2017 admission session .
NEET-PG 2017 shall be a single eligibility cum entrance examination for admission to Postgraduate Medical Courses ’ for the academic session 2017 which will include all India 50 percent quota seats for MD / MS / PG Diploma courses ( except Andhra Pradesh , Jammu & Kashmir and Telangana ).
The website for NEET-PG shall be available with effect from September 24 , 2016 and online registration for the NEET-PG shall commence on September 26 till October 31 , 2016 .
INDIA TO HOST 1ST ' BRICS YOUNG SCIENTISTS CONCLAVE '
The Department of Science & Technology ( DST ), Government of India , under the BRICS framework , is hosting a five-day event where a group of about 50 young scientists from BRICS countries in Bengaluru from 26-30th September , 2016 . The event is being organized and coordinated by the National Institute of Advanced Studies ( NIAS ), Bengaluru .
The Conclave aims at building a BRICS Innovation Corps who individually or collectively have specialized capability to work on their novel scientific ideas and technological solutions .
The meet is expected to provide a platform for engaging , connecting and networking among young scientists to hold discussions and find solutions to some of the common challenges and problems being faced in BRICS countries . The participants are drawn from science , engineering and allied disciplines . The focus of the Conclave would be on three thematic topics – Computational Intelligence , Energy
Solutions and Affordable Healthcare .
This BRICS Young Scientists Conclave assumes importance as it is taking place during India ’ s chairmanship of BRICS in 2016 under a focal theme of ‘ Building , Responsive , Inclusive and Collective Solutions ’. The event shall be inaugurated by Prof K . Kasturirangan , former Member of Parliament ( Rajya Sabha ) and former Chairman , Indian Space Research Organisation ( ISRO ).
The BRICS Young Scientist Forum ( BRICS-YSF ), under which the BRICS Young Scientists Conclave is being organised , was initiated at the 2nd BRICS Science , Technology and Innovation Ministerial Meeting at Brasilia in March , 2015 . The respective Science , Technology and Innovation ( STI ) Ministries of BRICS countries are the lead coordinating organisations for this Forum on co-investment and co-ownership principles .
DR HARSH VARDHAN LAUNCHES CSIR ’ S INTEGRATED SKILL INITIATIVE PROGRAM
Union Minister of Science and Technology and Vice President , CSIR , Dr Harsh Vardhan has made an announcement that the CSIR Platinum Jubilee Celebrations would be inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India and President CSIR , Mr Narendra Modi in New Delhi on 26th September . The Minister also launched CSIR ’ s Integrated Skill Initiative Program during the press conference held on 23rd September .
After the formal launch of a major program on ‘ CSIR Integrated Skill Initiative ’, Dr Harsh Vardhan also elaborated on the range of special activities built around the CSIR Platinum Jubilee Celebrations during the ensuing year , including organization of unique CSIR showcases and holding of lecture series of eminent scientists and industry captains , in several cities across the country .
The Minister added that CSIR proposes to launch 30 integrated skill initiatives in diverse areas with varying duration that would be further expanded to 75 , within next one year . All these training programs are interconnected and linked to industry requirements and thus would invariably contribute to the subsequent employment generation , including small-scale entrepreneurship , he emphasized .
Dr Harsh Vardhan highlighted that CSIR , with its nearly 8000 highly talented S & T personnel , excellent interdisciplinary expertise , state-of-the-art facilities and a Pan-India presence , it is in a unique position to contribute towards Government ’ s enterprise- enhancing programs in Skill India and Stand up India . He informed that no other Nation in the World has a conversion rate of innovations into patents over an average of 3-4 percent except CSIR ,
