editor’s note Let us support surgical strike against black money The announcement by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on the evening of 8th November came across as a shock to almost everyone on its first day. The disbelief on demonetization of old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes turned into appreciation and then into rumors and what not. Yet the fact remains that despite inconvenience, the masses have accepted it with a pinch of salt because they can see the havoc it will create on the black money economy in this country. The move is expected to benefit the bioscience industry both directly and indirectly and we will be uncovering all aspects of the aftermath regularly. The prominent industry voices have rallied behind the decision and many have called it a massive system reboot. There would be crashing but ultimately the speed (economy here) will be boosted.
