PERKINELMER OPENS NEW DIAGNOSTICS FACILITY IN CHENNAI
With this move , PerkinElmer has expanded its footprint in India . This new diagnostics facility in Chennai , Tamil Nadu will provide a comprehensive menu of diagnostic screening services to hospitals , maternity nursing facilities , diagnostic labs and clinicians throughout India . Mr Prahlad Singh , President-Diagnostics , PerkinElmer formally inaugurated the facility in the month of February , 2016 in presence of a leading group of clinicians , including gynaecologists , fetal medicine specialists and pediatricians , along with medical research professionals and key opinion leaders .
Since 1981 , PerkinElmer has been providing instruments and services to customers in India , spanning a wide range of markets . The opening of the Chennai laboratory broadens PerkinElmer ’ s diagnostic offerings to respond to India ’ s growing need for easier access to technologies that can screen for and help diagnose prenatal and neonatal conditions . Newborn screening helps detect metabolic and other inherited disorders that are treatable only when identified during the first few days of life .

BIO-RAD EXPANDS ITS CELL BIOLOGY PORTFOLIO WITH HIGH PERFORMANCE FLOW CYTOMETER
Bio-Rad Laboratories and Propel Labs in February , 2016 jointly announced that Bio-Rad has acquired a high performance analytical flow cytometer platform from Propel Labs that will enable advanced and novice users to perform basic and multi-parameter cytometry for a wide range of applications and chemistries . Bio-Rad expects to launch the instrument later this year .
Flow cytometry is a technique used for identifying and sorting cells and their components . The flow cytometry platform will support a variety of applications including immunology , phenotypic monitoring , cell signaling , and stem cell research . This innovative and proprietary technology will offer researchers greater confidence in results along with convenience that is unmatched by other available systems .

AGILENT ANNOUNCES EARLY ACCESS TO CUSTOM GUIDERNA FOR FUNCTIONAL GENOMICS
Agilent Technologies has announced a program that gives biologists conducting functional genomics research early access to a potential new resource : custom CRISPR guideRNA libraries using Agilent ' s highquality oligo library synthesis platform . The same was revealed at the technology conference — Advances in Genome Biology and Technology ( AGBT ) in Florida recently . The custom SureGuide gRNA libraries will complement Agilent ' s SureGuide Cas9 nuclease kit when that kit is available for commercial release . Both will be part of an integrated solution for research involving clustered regularly interspaced short
palindromic repeats ( known as CRISPR systems ) and associated genes .
Researchers are excited about CRISPR-Cas9 gene-editing technology because it enables scientists doing large-scale , functional genomics screens to investigate the role of genetic mutations in human disease . With CRISPR libraries , researchers have access to the first system that can fully remove the function of genes at the DNA level , compared with other tools like RNA interference that suppress gene expression at the RNA level .
SHIMADZU LAUNCHES NEW ICPMS
The new ICPMS-2030 from Shimadzu is designed to respond to the ICH ( International Conference on Harmonisation of Technical Requirements for Registration of Pharmaceuticals for Human Use ) Q3D guidelines for elemental impurities in pharmaceutical products .
The ICH Q3D specifies allowable limits of daily intake of 24 elements of toxicological concern , and requires high sensitive and high precision measurement of such elements . The ICPMS-2030 satisfies these requirements with ppt level high sensitivity , which is achieved by newly developed collision cell and optimized internal structure , offering FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliance , automated analytical method development function , and unique measurement result evaluation function to provide analytical results with exceptionally high reliability .
US pharmacopoeia indicates limits of elemental impurities ( USP < 232 >) and detection technique by ICP-MS ( USP < 233 >), which will be in effect in January 2018 . In USP < 735 >, X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry is adopted as general analytical method .
