The young biotechnologist-turnedentrepreneur is the Managing Director and co-founder of Pune based startup , Mylab Discovery Solutions . At Maylab , Rawal drives product strategy and new innovations , also closely managing the interface with the external stakeholders . He has close association with major industry players and academic and research institutes in the country .
Backed by Serum Institute of India , Mylab Discovery Solutions is aggressively launching new products in the diagnostic testing space to overcome the challenges posed by the pandemic . After raising funds from the Department of Biotechnology ( DBT ) and few private investors , the Mylab team has recently developed a fully-automated sample to-PCRready system for molecular diagnostics , which is a first in India . Founded in 2016 , it is the first company in Asia and second company worldwide to develop and manufacture FDA approved ID-NAT kits for accurate detection of HIV , HBV , HCV and other infections .
Under Rawal ’ s leadership , Mylab launched India ’ s first self ( Covid-19 ) testing kit , CoviSelf on June 3 , 2021 . The objective behind the launch is to reduce pressure on overburdened laboratories and slow down the spread of COVID-19 significantly . The kit gives power to the common individuals to get tested themselves in the comfort of their home without getting exposed to the normal hospital and laboratory environment .

He also holds a masters degree in business administration from University of Pune in 2012 . In his earlier career stints , he has worked with BD Bioscience , Invitrogen India , LabIndia Instruments and Genex Lifesciences on various positions .
As per Hasmukh Rawal , the diagnostic sector has a huge potential to benefit millions of Indians by addressing the pain points faced by our diverse country . “ Using technologies such as machine learning , AI , IoT , etc ., the diagnostic sector can overcome disruption and meet cost and quality objectives .
