Anu Acharya is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mapmygenome India , a leading Indian molecular diagnostics company she founded in 2013 . It leverages state-of-the-art DNA sequencing and SNP Genotyping technologies coupled with the latest research to screen for genetic predisposition and diagnose complex genetic disorders . With a vision to touch 100 million lives by 2030 , Acharya has successfully pioneered the company through growing product lines , expanding affiliate networks and has received funding from stalwarts like Ratan Tata and Rajan Anandan and others .
Under Acharya ’ s leadership company started off with different markers , writing algorithms for risk prediction , genetic components etc . Gradually , it also began getting research material for Indian data sets and that ’ s how Genomepatri , the company ’ s flagship product came about . The product helps us discover genetic predisposition , helping us understand susceptibility to different diseases and work towards preventing them . Today , the product detects over 100 conditions as compared to 30 to 40 a few years ago . Some of the other popular products include MedicaMap ,

After obtaining her Bachelors in Physics from IIT Kharagpur , Acharya in 1995 moved to the US for her Masters in Physics and MIS ( Management Information Systems ) from the University of Illinois at Chicago . Her shift to Information Systems happened as it combined her love for computer science and management studies . Post her return to India , she held positions in a consulting company called SEI Information and a telecommunications software company called Mantiss Information which has since been acquired by Dynegy Corporation . Later she became the founder and CEO of Ocimum Bio Solutions , a genomics outsourcing company for discovery , development and diagnostics , from 2000 to 2013 .
