The three day‘ BioAsia 2017’ event was inaugurated on February 6, 2017 in the city of Hyderabad by the Governor of Telangana, Mr ESL Narasimhan in the presence of high profile industry leaders in a glittering ceremony. The annual flagship event of the Government of Telangana, which has over the years has emerged as a preeminent technology and bio-business convention in Asia for Life sciences, pharmaceuticals and healthcare.
Organized by the Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Telangana, the event this year brought together some of the most influential world leaders in Pharma industry from across the globe. The 14th Edition of the BioAsia saw a participation of 1480 delegates from 51 countries in this threeday conference. Around 1200 trade, partnership, and deliberation meetings were conducted this year at BioAsia. The event saw insightful sessions from global industry leaders and academic stalwarts. The CEO Conclave on Serving Billion Patients India was held with eminent international and Indian experts from the global pharma powerhouses.
The exhibition at the event venue with about 100 exhibitionists showcased some of the most innovative products, services and solutions in Life Sciences and healthcare. The highlight at the exhibition was the VR experience( Virtual Reality) of the upcoming Pharma City in Hyderabad with plugand-play facilities.
The event was supported by various government organizations including the Department of Biotechnology( Govt of India), Department of Pharmaceuticals( Govt of India), BIRAC( Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council), ICAR( Indian Council of Agricultural Research), TSIIC and T-hub. Renowned companies like Dr Reddy’ s, Novartis, GVK Bio, Hetero Drugs, MSN Laboratories, Aurobindo Pharma,
Natco Pharma, Shantha Biotech, Biological E, GE Healthcare Lifesciences, etc. have also extended their support to BioAsia 2017.
Showcasing Hyderabad as a bioscience hub
While inaugurating the event, Mr E S L Narasimhan, Governor for Telangana said,“ Telangana State has emerged a leader in the life sciences sector and has immense scope for further industrial growth. Since its beginning in 2014, BioAsia as a platform has been instrumental for the State Government to invite the global investors and business leaders, showcase the extraordinary infrastructure available in the state and attract investments. Over 200 MoUs and about 14,000 crores investments have been announced at BioAsia. The event also has brought together leaders from over 89 countries at Hyderabad.”
