Churning intensifies within bioscience

The NDA regime led by Prime Minister , Narendra Modi completed its two years recently . While stakeholders at various levels within industry and academia praise the right intentions , their expectations from the government are far higher . The overwhelming feeling is that there should be an assessment of things done so far through consultations . Apart from that , regulations I am told , have seen improvements but still needs a big push .
Therefore , this edition of BioVoice through detailed cover story brings to you the achievements , unmet expectations and challenges before this popular government . Do check out what the social media poll says about its role so far in bioscience .
Now coming to a specific issue , recently prominent industry experts expressed dismay over denial of travel clearance to Indian officials who were on their way to attend the BIO US international convention held at San Francisco ( June 5-9 ). As a consequence of this denial of visa for unknown reasons , these officials had to miss this key global event . While on the one hand , there are increasing partnerships between two nations , it is surprising that such a treatment is meted out . Indian government should make sure that it is conveyed to their US counterparts at the highest level .
On a positive note , this edition of BioVoice also brings to you the innovative research on HIV virus by an Indian scientist at NIH . Besides that the ‘ Face to Face ’ features Dr Renu Swarup , MD , BIRAC who shared her views on the various aspects of startup ecosystem . The ‘ BioSocial ’ highlights the relevance of facebook in agriculture . My favourite is the must read multimedia story on women health .
We would like to thank you all for support and warm wishes . Please keep sharing your thoughts with us .
