AGRICULTURE CURRICULUM TO INCLUDE NEW SUBJECTS TO PROMOTE ENTREPRENEURSHIP
After the Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued necessary instructions for the entrepreneurship of agriculture graduates while
putting emphasis on agricultural education for the upliftment of agriculture throughout the country, the Union Agriculture
and Farmers Welfare Ministry has decided to go for a drastic change in the curricula.

Union agriculture minister, Mr Radha Mohan Singh has suggested that a professional curriculum should be framed out on
agricultural graduation level while incorporating the basic and fundamental requisites in a traditional agriculture courses.
Minister approved the recommendations of the 5th Dean’s Committee report that had recommended a few new subjects like
bio-technology, community science, food nutrition and diets as well as sericulture on June 29, 2016. The same will be
implemented in this educational session i.e. 2016-17.
Indian Agriculture Research Council (ICAR) has already issued instructions to the agricultural universities to implement
Committee's report. Through this new curriculum all agriculture based graduation courses will be altered into the
professional ones which will be conducive to earn their livelihood in future.
PRAKASH JAVADEKAR ASSUMES CHARGE AS HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT MINISTER
Union Minister Mr Prakash Javadekar took charge of office of
Minister of HRD on July 07. Interacting with the media persons, he
stressed that his ministry’s mission will be to provide quality
education for all, thereby transforming life, especially that of poor. Mr
Javadekar had taken oath as Cabinet Minister on 6th July 2016.
The Minister reiterated that he and his colleagues in the Ministry will work as
Team HRD to fulfill the aspirations of the nation. Reminding his stint in the
state Planning board, he assured collaboration with all the states to ensure the
success of education system in India. Team HRD will address all the issues
and great opportunities will be unlocked for education sector in India, he
added. After the interaction with the media, he took introductory meeting
with the officials of the ministry.
Before assuming the office of Ministry of HRD, he was serving as Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change as
independent Charge. Prior to this, he was serving as Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting as independent charge as
well as Parliamentary Affairs.
He comes with immense experience as a parliamentarian who has been elected to Rajya Sabha from 2008 onwards and served in
numerous Parliamentary Committees. He also excelled in his role as National Spokeperson for BJP from 2005 onwards. He had
proved himself in his state also as Member of Maharshtra Legislative Council between 1990-2002 and was executive president of
State Planning Board during 1997-99.
Hailing from Pune, his political life started as a student activist in the struggle against Emergency during which he was imprisoned
for 16 months. He had been working with Bank of Maharashtra before he entered fulltime politics.
