Bio-RIDE scheme lays thrust on biomanufacturing
The Union Cabinet approved the continuation of two umbrella schemes and Development ( R & D ), Industrial and Entrepreneurship Development ( I & ED ), and a newly introduced component focusing on Biomanufacturing and Biofoundry . Bio-RIDE is designed to foster innovation , promote bioentrepreneurship , and accelerate the commercialization of bio-based products and technologies .

from the Department of Biotechnology ( DBT ) under a unified program called the Biotechnology Research Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development ( Bio-RIDE ) scheme . With a financial outlay of Rs . 9,197 crore for the 15th Finance Commission period ( 2021-22 to 2025-26 ), the Bio-RIDE scheme aims to strengthen India ' s position as a global leader in biomanufacturing and biotechnology .
The scheme includes three major components : Biotechnology Research concerns over the potential costs of transitioning to bio-based systems , particularly for small and mediumsized enterprises ( SMEs ).
One of the primary challenges lies in the interdisciplinary nature of biotechnology . BIOE3 covers sectors such as healthcare , agriculture , environmental science , and biomanufacturing .
