New research decodes Pearl Millet ’ s climate resilience & nutritional secrets
Collaboration between the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics ( ICRISAT ) and Corteva Agriscience has yielded three ‘ platinum-standard ’ genome sequences for pearl millet varieties , providing valuable insights into the crop ’ s genetic composition .
Pearl millet , a climate-resilient grain , serves as a lifeline to over ninety million people in South Asia and sub- Saharan Africa . Its remarkable ability to endure scorching temperatures , prolonged droughts , and nutrientdeprived soils , sets pearl millet apart as a top solution to bolstering global food and nutritional security in the context of climate change .
Director General of ICRISAT , Dr Jacqueline Hughes commended the collaboration and said the transformative study would augment ICRISAT ’ s and its partners ’ ability to continue progress towards the creation of crop varieties .
New study shows farmed fish grow healthier with fungi compared to soybeans

Finnish biotech startup Enifer has contributed to a new study on farmed salmon that was done in collaboration with the Norwegian University of Life Sciences ( NMBU ). was conducted by a group of researchers led by Professor Margareth Øverland . The study shows that juvenile salmon growing in freshwater fed with PEKILO ® Aqua mycoprotein had a significant activation in their immune system and grew better as the feed was more efficiently converted into the fish .
