Patel , Chairman of Zydus Lifesciences , has been awarded the prestigious Padma Bhushan for his contributions to the Indian bioscience industry . He is the man behind the discovery-driven , global Lifesciences company with operations in more than 80 countries worldwide . An alumni of the Indian Institute of Management ( IIM ), Ahmedabad , Patel combines both research and techno-commercial expertise . He has published over 100 research papers in peer reviewed journals and is a co-inventor in more than 64 patents . Pankaj Patel is on the board of several prestigious institutions , including the Reserve Bank of India . He is also the Chairperson of the Board of Governors of IIM Ahmedabad and Chairman of IIM Udaipur and Invest India . He also officiates on the board of several Notfor-Profit & charitable institutions . Patel is the Executive Chairman of the Gujarat Cancer Society and Chairman of the Gujarat Cancer and Research Institute
Dr Chetan Chitnis , a prominentmalaria researcher , awarded Padma Shri
Dr Chetan E Chitnis , a prominent malaria researcher , has been awarded the Padma Shri . Dr Chitnis is currently the head of the Malaria Parasite Biology and Vaccines Unit at the Institut Pasteur in Paris . Earlier , he was the principal investigator of the malaria research group at the ICGEB in New Delhi . Dr Chitnis received the Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar Award in 2004 and the Infosys Prize in Life Sciences 2010 . He is an elected fellow
of the Indian Academy of Sciences ( 2009 ) as well as Indian National Science Academy ( 2014 ). In 1990 , Dr Chitnis completed his PhD at the University of California , Berkeley and conducted postdoctoral research on malaria at the US National Institutes of Health . He returned to India in 1995 where he established a laboratory that combined fundamental and translational malaria research .
