NEET 2017 TO BE HELD IN JUNE NEXT YEAR
The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for entrance to DM / MCh in terms of Section 10 of the Indian Medical Council Act , 1956 as amended in 2016 shall be conducted by the National Board of Examinations .
The examination shall be held at various cities on 10th June 2017 . It will be a Computer Based Test and shall comprise of 200 Multiple Choice Questions from the MD / MS curriculum followed at medical colleges in India duly prescribed or adopted by Medical Council of India with prior approval of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare , Government of India .
Thiruvanathapuram ; NIMHANS , Bengaluru and JIPMER , Puducherry are not covered by NEET-SS .
National Board of Examinations is an autonomous organization established by Government of India in 1982 with prime objective of conducting post graduate examinations on all India basis . It also conducted the NEET- PG for MD / MS / PG Diploma admissions in 2013 , 2017 ; NEET MDS 2017 and All India Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination ( AIPGMEE ) during the period 2014 – 2016 . A STATUS REPORT ON HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS
As per All India Survey on Higher Education ( AISHE ) 2015- 16 , the number of universities in the country is 799 and out of them 386 Universities came into existence since 2001 . The number of students and teachers in the institutions of higher education in the country during academic year 2015-16 are 3.46 Crore and 15.19 Lakh respectively . The Minister of State ( HRD ), Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey stated this in the Parliament recently .
Out of the total number of sanctioned teaching posts of 17006 ( 2407 Professor , 4789 Associate Professor , 9810 Assistant Professor ), in 40 Central Universities ( CUs ) under the purview of Ministry of Human Resource Development ( MHRD ), 6080 teaching posts ( 1308 Professor , 2230 Associate Professor , 2542 Assistant Professor ) are lying vacant as on 01.10.2016 . In case of Indira Gandhi National Open University ( IGNOU ), against the sanctioned teaching posts of 454 ( 69 Professor , 135 Reader / Associate Professor , 250 Assistant Professor ) , 176 posts ( 38 Professors , 51 Reader / Associate Professor , 87 Assistant Professor ) are lying vacant as on November 01 , 2016 . education
NEET-SS is a single window entrance examination for entry to DM / MCh / PDCC courses . No other examination either at state level or institutional level entrance examination conducted by any University / medical colleges / institutions shall be valid as per the Indian Medical Council Act , 1956 with effect from 2017 admission session .
NEET-SS 2017 shall be a single eligibility cum entrance examination namely ‘ National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for admission to Super Specialty Courses ’ for the academic session 2017 which shall include DM / MCh / PDCC courses at all Private Medical Colleges , Institutions & Universities / Deemed Universities besides Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions .
