Dr Amit Kakar joins MedGenome Board of Directors
MedGenome has appointed Dr Amit Kakar from Novo Holdings to its Board of Directors . Dr Kakar is Senior Partner , Head of Novo Holdings Asia , and a healthcare professional with over 30 years of experience across key verticals . His diverse experience also encompasses investing , operational and management roles across health-tech companies . He is currently part of the Board of Directors of Singapore-based life science company , ESCO , telemedicine portal – Doctor Anywhere and leading health tech firm Qure . ai .
As a Senior Partner , Dr . Kakar ’ s expertise will help accelerate MedGenome ’ s expansion plans . In his comments , Dr . Amit Kakar said , “ MedGenome ’ s journey in the field of genomics has been very impressive . Previously , Dr . Amit served as Head of M & A and Business Development at Everlife Asia in Singapore , was Head of Healthcare Investments at Avenue Capital Group and served in several senior leadership roles at GE Healthcare .
Merck appoints Robert M . Davis as its new Chairman
Leading biopharmaceutical company , Merck ’ s board of directors has unanimously elected Robert M . Davis to serve as chairman of the board , effective December 1 , 2022 . He succeeds Kenneth C . Frazier , who retired on November 30 , 2022 , after a long-tenured career at Merck that began in 1992 . Frazier led the company for 10 years as President and Chief Executive Officer , from 2011 through 2021 . He has served as a Merck Director since January 2011 and Chairman of its board of directors since December 2011 .
Davis , who currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer , became Merck ’ s President in April 2021 and was named Merck ’ s Chief Executive Officer and a member of its board in July 2021 .

Dr Bipin Nair appointed as vice chair of India AMR Innovation Hub ’ s Special Interest Group
Dr . Bipin Nair , Dean , Life Science , School of Biotechnology , Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has been appointed as the vice chair of one of the five Special interest Groups ( SIG ) of the India AMR Innovation Hub ( IAIH ), a national-level body engaged in research related to antimicrobial resistance . Dr Nair will be the AMR Environment Committee ’ s vice chair , one of the five SIGs of IAIH . Additionally , four SIGs focusing on key areas are Human AMR , AMR in Human-animal- Agri Interface , AMR stewardship , and Surveillance & Public Health Preparedness .
