Giraffes in fights and friendships
The lanky tallest animal on earth- that is the giraffe is somewhat a mystery when it comes to their behaviour. Although seemingly gentle and calm- recent research seems to suggest that the truth is far from!
Whilst filming for an African documentary, BBC have collected footage of male giraffes brutally bashing each other literally ‘head to head’ until just one is standing. This behaviour seems far form the ‘gentle giants’ many perceived them to be.
New research also suggests that females have social groups with select female companions- and will outright avoid those who they don’t get along well with.
This is compared to the lone male wanderers who prefer solitude.
