BimROCK Magazine Issue #8 Best Summer Ever | Page 27

A GROUP OF SIX LADS FROM WESTBURY, DECIDED TO GET TOGETHER FOR EACH OF THEIR BIRTHDAYS AND HOST EVENTS TO WHICH THEY INVITED THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY. That small start eventually turned into Scrawl Up, the fete where $20 will bring you hours of pure soca bliss. The promoters proudly call it, the biggest Saturday fete anywhere on island. Full of vibes, packed with energy, and ‘ramoff’ with people, Scrawl Up (at its new location on Harbour Road) has ample room to shake a leg, and by shake a leg, we mean wuk-up and do bad. Add to that the Scrawl Up half-hour and you’ve got a great deal. Between 9 and 9:30 pm, patrons pay $1. Not one Pound Sterling, not one Euro, not one U.S Dollar, but one single Barbadian silver dollar . . . . The ones with seven edges, an engraved flying fish on one side and the coat of arms on the other. Last year Scrawl Up had an average of 1,500 partiers each night, and they have plans to beat that number by the end of this season. https://www.facebook.com/joe.grimes.52493 [email protected] PARTY ROCKs | BIM ROCK | 27
