SHAKIRAH BOURNE The story of how Payday surfaced is theatrical on its own. Our three key players – Bourne, Redman and Browne – were brought together by a shared, yet independent vision to make a fulllength feature film. Redman has worked with Browne prior on numerous visual projects. In 1995 Redman founded the award-winning design company Acute Vision. He’s the businessman that knows not to take life too seriously but still manages to get things done. His business acumen and marketing depth took Payday on its international journey. He packaged the product so deliciously the audience is now hot for part two. Behind the camera cinematographer Selwyne ‘Get Busy’ Browne is fluent in the language of the visual. As we wind down for the day, I quickly discover he’s not shy in front of the camera either. For years he has been the go-to guy for quality visual imagery. His latest completed project is the simply stunning video for the song My House, by Trinidadian Farmer Nappy, 2015 Groovy Monarch second place finisher. The video complements Farmer Nappy’s eloquently told story about his love affair with Carnival. The YouTube hits tell the truth. Browne, an accomplished director, has also created some of Barbados’ most impressive videos for entertainers such as Biggie Irie and Kirk Browne. CULTURE ROCKs | BIM ROCK | 49
