ON THE ROAD WITH SIPS Photography: Rachelle Gray Written by: Leandro Stuart I SHOULD START THIS ARTICLE BY SAYING THAT SIPS SMOOTHIE BAR IS TOTALLY AWESOME. They have been around for six years, and in that time they’ve tapped into the market using a true Bajan strategy. They bring the goodies to you, live and direct. BimROCK spent the day with Sips to discover first-hand how the magic happens. Being in the bright orange “Sips mobile” as it’s affectionately known, was a truly fun experience. An early morning start, found us loading up at home base with daily stock of an array of fruit, yogurts, ice, and toppings for their signature blends. For the sweet tooth brownies, oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies. We are on our way to Warrens, ready and willing to deliver a Sips #cupofhappy. And believe me, you can get the most refreshing cup of happy from team Sips. From your morning pick-me-up coffee blends, to decadent and creamy shakes, quirky and fun mixes like a Peanut Butter and Jelly smoothie or the Chunky Monkey all the way to your healthy smoothies, Sips has blended its way to the heart of locals and tourists alike. So community spirited and embracing is this innovative company that clients can create their own flavours to be featured on the menu. Sips calls this the “Smack Down”. Their sense of community doesn’t stop there, as they extend a philanthropic hand by raising funds for The Barbados Sea Turtle Project and The Hope Sanctuary animal shelter through the purchase of select drinks. Hands down, my favourite sip of the day was what I call a palate orgasm in a cup - the Minty Purple Peach. Made with blueberries, cherry juice, mint and other magical trade secrets, it cleanses, refreshes and stimulates your taste buds, making the hair on the back of your neck stand up, to the point of seeing fireworks likened to that of a cartoon. www.facebook.com/SipsSmoothieBar [email protected] FOOD ROCKs | BIM ROCK | 29
