BimROCK Magazine Issue #12 Blue, Yellow, Black | Page 7

EDITOR’S note A little over a year ago BimROCK’s publisher, cooked up an idea to create a magazine that would showcase the trendiest of Barbadian livity; and then gave me the task of curating a monthly menu of tasty content. Forty-nine years ago Barbados’ father of Independence empowered us with nationhood and enabled us to be craftsmen of our fate. I am happy to live in a time when a groundbreaking publication such as ours can find a home in the hearts of our people and where our people can decide to follow the beat of their hearts. So in celebration mode we’ve opted to get our laugh on with the funniest man on island to date – Seth Bovell aka the Scab Whisper. His comedic appeal has crossed many borders and our Bajan family in over and away is quite attuned to his style of funny as well. As fate would have it sea eggs are legal, well until the close of the season, so we maximized on the opportunity to indulge in this delicacy and had our Food ROCKs chef Kimberley Bourne render her interpretation on this Bajan dish. Perhaps in the near future other food items will also get the legal nod of approval and we will be able to season our pots with fresh herb. Fashion ROCKs stepped into the colourful world of Shanika Burnett of Shakad Design Wear, Party ROCKs did a two-step at 100.7FM’s Q in the Community and Music ROCKs headed East to hang out with the man who penned an ode to Bim, our king, Red Plastic Bag. It’s the season of Independence and BimROCK’s one-year anniversary. Life is good, as it should be. Read on! Rachelle Gray Editor-in-Chief EDITIOR | BIM ROCK | 7
