F ROM THE STREETS OF BARBADOS, A MAN WITH A CLEAN, CLASSIC STYLE EVOLVES. HE HAS STEPPED OUT OF THE BOX OF LIMITATION AND BEING LABELED AS ONLY A WOMEN’S WEAR DESIGNER, AND MOVED ON TO DESIGNING FABULOUS, FASHIONABLE BOW TIES UNDER THE BRAND WILLIAM PIERRE. With a simple personality, yet bold in the sense of understanding his style, founder of William Pierre, Orlando Williams believes that the classical bow tie should be in every man’s wardrobe. Thus he says, “A bow tie says something about you.” He believes that if you are dressing and the only thing that people can read about you is that you have a nice figure then you are not doing it correctly. What you wear should show off a hint of your personality. The business emerged out of Orlando’s desire to see more unique men’s looks in Barbados and across the Caribbean. He wanted to give men a plethora of styling options while utilising remaining fabric. The designs are constructed to merge with any personality as he states, “Not every man likes to be the extremes of fashion. But the perfect way you can do that is within the confines of the cliché of what a man should wear.” Wardrobe must have for a man: • • • • • • Bow tie Solid shades Button up shirts: In your staple colours and bold ones e.g. black ,white, blue, navy Blazer Jeans Good shoes Orlando stated that a bow tie can be worn to any event if you believe that you have the personality to pull it off. However bow ties are formal statements and it depends on the tie itself. Every article of clothing has its place and an esthetic for a particular look; but if he had to advise on the best time to wear a bow tie it would be in formal, professional and (in a few instances) casual settings. 22 | BIM ROCK | FASHION ROCKs
