Electrical Engineering STudents' European assoCiation
During the last year, EESTEC LC Ankara was one of the
most active LC’s among 47 LC in whole Europe. After the
successful event organized in October 2009, Tools For Action, an expectation to organize another amazing event in
Ankara is appeared by whole EESTEC family.
Aware of that, LC Ankara had meetings for brainstorming
to decide on the subject. Group works and researches resulted with the subject
avionics which means
avionics electronics. The
name was “Above Us
Only Sky” .
coffee and also tasted it. Baklava was also shown to participants in a factory with its production process.
LC Ankara didn’t forget to organize a trip to visit the important places in Ankara. Participants visited An?tkabir, Ulus and
Gençlik Park?. In addition, campuses of METU and Bilkent
University were introduced and a campus rally with a tough
path organized in METU to show the daily life in universities in
Turkey, generally.
To sum up, participants had a
great week in
Ankara with the
full schedule of
the event. LC Ankara is now waiting
for
new
events and of
course, for new
guests.
The event was held
between 4th -12th December 2010. The importance of this workshop was that it was the
first workshop related to
avionics in EESTEC history.
During this event, the
most well-known aviation companies in Turkey such as Havelsan and TAI (Turkish Aerospace Industries) introduced avionics and gave fundamental information about it. History of avionics, the systems in first aircrafts in world, the development of avionics, architecture
of cockpit, standard localization of four main flight instruments namely altimeter, air speed, ADI and HIS and, basics
sensors used in aircrafts are all covered in trainings.
Participants were also able to visit the factory of TAI. The
construction process of aircrafts, research and development
studies on the electronic systems were shown in factory.
Besides on the technical trainings, Turkish culture was
introduced. A Sociology professor from METU (Middle East
Technical University) gave a presentation about Turkish
tradition. Participants listened about the history of Turkish
