ISSUE 11 | NOVEMBER 2019
BC: What's your life goal? Did you ever
think to write your biography?
SR: I want to pass away as a good biker
with the richness of affection of all. Love
to see biking clubs grow and they
continue to pursue their passion of riding
in their old age too. No, I do not intend to
write a biography.
BC: When do you think you'll stop riding?
Anytime soon?
SR: I have miles and miles to go before I
sleep and the ride is still ON.
BC: We know it is really painful topic to
revisit, but have you ever gone down?
Any accidents?
SR: By God's grace no. Except a freak fall
recently with my daughter while going two
kms. Poor thing she fractured her
shoulder and I had a blunt injury due to
impact of the handle on my chest. I was
off from riding for over two months.
BC: Any piece of advice you want to give
it to other riders who are starting out
riding?
SR: Study the terrain, weather, and make
a ride plan if your leave and budget is
limited. Get your bike ready in every
aspect to avoid any failure on the ride.
Learn basic repairs thoroughly.
BIKERS CLUB | MAGAZINE | PAGE 23
A Biker cannot afford to wait for help in
replacing a clutch wire and such other
minor repairs. Wear proper riding gears,
respect the road, the people and their
culture. Respect traffic rules and don't
smoke and drink during rides. Your bike
is already drinking and smoking for
your pleasure. Do you really need to
derive more pleasure? Always aim to be
responsible Biker.
BC: In one line, If you want to say or
quote about Riding Motorcycles?
SR: "You don't stop biking as you age,
You age when you stop biking."
BC: Is there anything else you'd still to
do on a bike? Like a riders bucket-list?
Any dream rides?
SR: The riders ride is never complete.
There is always place in the bucket.
There is still lots of touring to do within
the country and also in Nepal, Bhutan
and Bangladesh.
Budgetary constraints have kept me
away from international rides. Yes, I do
dream to go on a big international ride
across continents provided I get
sponsors.
BC: During your rides you go to pay
homage at war memorials. Could you
mention something about it?
SR: Personally, I believe in two blood
lines. One that of my ancestors and the
other of my comrades in arms. A citizen
who picked up the weapon to save his
country from attack by the enemy and
perished is extra ordinary and needs to
be remembered and respected. I
therefore go to pay homage to them at
the war memorials across the country
during my rides. Recently I did a ride
specially to pay homage to two great
sons of our country. Former President
of India Bharat Ratna Dr. APJ Abdul
Kalam, Padma Vibhushan, Padma
Bhushan, Padma Shri and former Chief
of Army Staff Field Marshal SHFJ
Manekshaw, Padma Vibhushan, Padma
Bhushan, Military Cross at
Rameshwaram and Ooty in Tamil Nadu,
India.
