EDUCATION
He had his education at various
schools across the country as his
father's job was transferable every 2 -
3 years. He completed his school
from Boys High school, Allahabad
and went for graduation to St Xavier's
College, Kolkata. Thereafter joined
the Indian Army after completion of
pre-commission training at Officers
Training Academy in Chennai. His
favorite sports were football, boxing
and marathon.
GROWING UP
He grew up in various places in army
stations across the country. Friends
kept changing due to the nature of
the job of his father and so also
father of his friends. It was difficult in
the beginning as he had to get
adjusted repeatedly to new school,
new teachers, new language and new
friends. But then it became a way of
life. Father being very strict,
discipline was very important. Going
for a run in the morning followed with
exercise was a strict routine. Evening
was games. In some stations the
family had to live in civil areas till
government accommodation was
allotted in the military station. His
father was a sportsman who played
football, cricket, badminton, tennis,
table-tennis, squash, billiards and
was also a long-distance runner. He
too was fond of the motorcycles
rather than the jeep. He always
admired his father riding the bike and
longed to ride once when he grew up.
He remembers playing various games
with his father in the army messes
and also football along with his father
and the Jawans. Boxing was picked
up by him when he saw Jawans
practicing boxing. Honesty and
accountability are the lessons from
his father that he remembers the
most. You have to be open to
accountability of your actions.
