ROAD TO INDORE
Not that I have anything against properly
planned, well thought out holidays, but if
you've ever taken a road trip that was
planned at the spur of a moment, you'd
agree that there's nothing quite like it.
Because when the main idea is to let the
road take you wherever it wants to take you,
there's no telling what you'd encounter on
the next turn, stop or pee break. Besides,
would you rather want to tell your friends
how awesome the buffet was at the hotel or
that crazy road trip.
As long as there are roads, there will be
road trips. There's just something so great
about riding bike and watching the miles
tumble by. It's not about destination, it's
about journey and all that.
I was totally frustrated and tired of my
routine life, I wanted a breakaway, so
thought to visit Indore to meet my bestie
Neha Sonvelkar, well I had called her up
before I went to sleep that I am coming to
meet you. It was a sudden plan without any
prior preparation and that goes without
saying, I would be going through my bike
only.
With the excitement of a road journey and to
meet my friend, I could not sleep properly
and I didn't even realize when I slept but
when I woke up it was 6:00am, thanks to my
alarm which always rings at 6:00am.
Sometimes I wonder who invented alarms, its my biggest enemy,
I love my sleep and I hate it when it rings, but thats life and I am
no different than other working women, being a sport teacher, I
have my specific routine but believe me sometimes it sucks.
Anyways today was different, no snoozing the alarm, I got up and
hit to thinking zone to freshen up and was ready for the ride but
my masculine bullet wasn't ready, He also needed a bath.. Like a
mother I gave bath to my big guy, and he was ready too..
It was by now 7:30am in the morning, I started my big guy (RE
standard 500cc), immediately set up the maps.. thanks to
google.. I can't imagine a life without google.. all thanks to Larry
Page and Sergey Brin.. put my phone on mobile handle and
started my journey with few necessary stuffs in my bag pack. The
road was familiar and people were too.. but today it was different,
I was not going school, of the same boring routine.. I fed my big
guy at petrol pump and very soon I hit the highway.
"Hello, it's me.. I was wondering if after all these years you'd
like to meet.. To go over everything.. They say that time's
supposed to heal ya.. But I ain't done much healing.."
Adele's song "Hello" was going on in my bluetooth helmet.. I was
totally rigged up and it was december 24th of 2018, weather was
freezing cold.. the breeze was hitting my face through the sides
of my helmet.. I was in my zone of riding and music.. I didn't even
realize, I had covered almost 75 kms till now out of 350 kms to
Indore and my stomach was starving, and telling me "Ritu!! you
riding maniac, better stop now, feed me and then go wherever
you want to go.." I said yes boss but let me find some better
place to feed you, so we agreed on a terms to stop at nearest
dhaba.
