Our exit from Myanmar was very smooth.
We had a very efficient agent and the
officers at the border were very friendly.
We got our exit stamp and a stamp in our
carnet too. What lay ahead on the other
side of the bridge was Thailand.
The curious thing was that half of the
bridge (Myanmar) had a right hand drive
and the other half (Thailand) had the left
hand drive. I continue to be baffled as to
why there are different sides to drive in
different countries. Isn't it easier to have
one standard across the world - making it
easy to manufacture cars and no
confusion to drive anywhere ? Anyways
these are just my thoughts, and surely I
cannot change anything. But the sight of
the Thai Flag ahead at point of entry felt
good.
A new rule from 1st March by the Thai
Government states that anyone travelling
on a bike or by car needs to have a local
agent to accompany the traveller every
single day, until they exit the country.
