Potomac Ridge Policies
Range Balls are a $7 charge, but include practice time before and after the
lesson. A student can show up to one half hour before lesson and practice up to
one hour passed lesson only. On course playing lessons will cost the regular
nine hole greens fee.. Each student is allowed a maximum of one playing lesson
per month. If there is space in the times available, a student may come more
than one time.
Practice Fee: Discount if identified as student. Discount rate: $15 / ($20) normal.
This rate is a practice fee for unlimited use of range hitting balls for that
session and includes the use of the putting and chipping greens. These fees do
not apply to people who are already members of the club.
When students arrive at Potomac Ridge Golf Club, they must always check in
with the Professional Shop prior to practice, play, or lessons.
Handicap
To establish a certified USGA Handicap, a golfer must have at least five attested
18-hole rounds of golf. Whatever handicap system is used, it must be with the
USGA. The Handicap Computer at Potomac is located in the hallway between
the pro-shop and the café. It is usually in use from March through October of the
year. The cost for maintaining a handicap at Potomac Ridge is $30.00 for the
year.
As a student posts a round, the computer will take up to twenty rounds of which
the formula uses the best ten out of twenty. The more scores a golfer uses, the
more accurate the handicap. Once twenty scores are on the system, when a
student places a new score on, the oldest score in truncated thus keeping the
handicap more up to date.
The contest will be using the USGA Certified Handicap System. All scores can
be turned in from any course. For our purposes they all must be attested.
Scheduling of Lessons
Lessons are to be scheduled in the normal manner through the scheduling by
TSGA. There are no required times, and appointments scheduled will be at the
convenience of each student and availability of time slots in the TSGA
appointment schedule.
Playing lessons will be held on Friday mornings and a time designated in the
evening.
