Miami tiene antecedentes. Dos años atrás, Versace sorprendía al mundo con la apertura en diciembre 2017
de su nueva tienda insignia en la Sloane Street de Londres. El lujo y la sofisticación estaban presentes, como
siempre en todo lo que toca Versace pero, en esta ocasión, no eran la razón de la sorpresa: nos encontrá-
bamos ante la primera boutique con certificado leed de la emblemática calle londinense. Daba inicio así
un plan comercial para la reforma y apertura de boutiques sostenibles, continuando con la trayectoria que
la firma comenzó en el momento que decidió dar un giro más consciente en su manera de hacer las cosas.
Ese paso constituyó un logro destacado del programa de Innovación Sostenible de Versace, abanderado por
su diseñadora artística, Donatella Versace, para quien sostenibilidad y lujo van hoy en día inevitablemente
de la mano. Establecidos sobre tres pilares clave: empoderamiento de la humanidad, reivindicación de la
excelencia italiana y revolucionando el sector del lujo, Versace se sale de los límites para apostar por mate-
riales vanguardistas más sostenibles y diseñar artículos y boutiques más respetuosos con el planeta. Dirigir
la compañía hacia la sostenibilidad es algo en lo que han estado trabajando entre bastidores durante un
promote much needed change. In under a year, the design of the London boutique is
already being replicated. Its designer, French architect Gwenael Nicolas – founder of
the Tokyo-based Curiosity firm – has designed now a new boutique in the Miami Bal
Harbour that has achieved the LEED Gold Level certification. An internationally recog-
nized level of excellence that is changing the paradigms. This certification was created
by the US Green Building Council to verify through a third party if a building has been
designed and built with human and environmental health as priorities. The inclusion
of the principles of sustainability in commercial spaces mean a more environmentally
friendly and improved experience for all boutique visitors. Donatella explains us how
sustainable innovation is being incorporated in the design, materials, equipment and
boutique activity. The new boutiques use less energy for heating, cooling and lighting
