In order to restore the Hetch Hetchy Valley, some citizens today
propose removing O’Shaughnessy Dam, which has existed since
1923. Investigate the arguments for and against draining the
reservoir and provide an overview of the controversy to the class.

WHST.6-8.7. Conduct short research projects to answer a question
(including a self-generated question), drawing on several sources and
generating additional related, focused questions that allow for multiple
avenues of exploration.
With a team, develop a dramatic presentation that explains the
urban water cycle, starting with the source of municipal water and
its movement from the source to the city. Include as many steps
as possible and demonstrate the environmental and health
impacts along the way.

and using pertinent descriptions, facts, and details to accentuate
