fillets and trudged back down with a heavy load
arriving back to the hut in darkness. Darren and
I discussed the day’s events with him having
seen 4 deer on the way in. The next morning we
again had a glass from near the hut over a hot
chocolate or two. Darren picked up two deer but

truck with another good load of meat. was seen
so we headed back down to our packs and out
to the truck.
I’ve continued exploring the hills of the South
Island in the following weeks, finding some
very handy spots and some places that require
a tad more effort but it’s all worth it. The
opportunities are endless with good hunting at
the throw of a dart on a map. Till next time.
