Reviews Bido Lito! June 2015 Day today, the maximalist length tracks benefit from a mix that captures the hypnotic guitar clamour well. The colossal Forevermore, which stretches into double figures, meanwhile showcases Moore’s ability to stretch material out to epic proportions whilst remaining able to keep the audience onside. Behind all of the stagecraft and performance, THE FLAMING LIPS’ shows are capable of eliciting profound and sincere emotion. Underneath the baubles and balloons beats a heart of pure, unadulterated love and joy, unfettered by the trappings and the day-to-day minutiae. For ninety minutes, the band transports the audience to a different place. A place where we can regress to the simple joy of watching a man roll around in a hamster ball and lose all selfconsciousness and just enjoy dancing to some great music. In between inflatable Santas, marriage proposals and the best custom balloon work you're likely to see, Wayne Coyne and his band of merry pranksters remind everyone just what is so special about live music. The love the band shows on stage is magnified and reciprocated by the crowd, and the sense of joy in the air is palpable long after they leave the stage.
