Yeast-Free Bread
Try this simple hearty recipe as is or with grains
INGREDIENTS METHOD
3 cups of self raising flour (can use
a wholemeal variety) 1. Combine flour, salt and baking
powder without sifting.
75gm butter (softened) 2. Add the milk and butter
(softened) and combine well
– giving it a quick knead just
until the dough comes together
(Dough should be moist but not
sticky and don’t over work it).
Pinch of salt
2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 cups of milk (can use non
dairy milk)
3. Transfer to a lined loaf pan or
form a circle, oval or different
shape on a lined tray.
4. Cook in an oven at 200°C for
about 40 mins.
5. Check it is cooked – flip it off the
baking sheet and give it a tap, if
it is done it will sound hollow.

Note: You can add grains or
make savoury bread from these
base ingredient. Because the loaf
doesn’t have much time to rise, it
won’t achieve a particularly light
texture, it will be a hearty, rustic
loaf best enjoyed fresh from the
oven.
