Liam Vaughan, 26, of Sentry Corner, Bideford, was given a 12-month conditional discharge and must pay £162 after pleading guilty to damaging panes of glass belonging to Stanbury and Co. in Bideford.

Geoffrey Gregory, 34, of Stucley Road, Bideford, had a community order updated. He must stay indoors between 10pm and 7am until August 21 – making a total of 12 weeks – after being convicted in February of assault by beating

Trevor Smythe, 70, of Oaklands, Bideford, was disqualified from driving for 14 months and ordered to pay £215 after pleading guilty to riding a motorcycle on Belle Meadow Road on March 26, while over the drink-drive limit.

Paul Willmore, 49, of High Street, Bideford, was given a 10-week curfew and must stay indoors between 7pm and 7am after admitting breaching a community order.

A 19 year old man has been found guilty of cannabis possession.

Kai Clements, of Union Close in Bideford has been found quilty of cannabis possession he was asked into Barnstaple Police Station for an interview in relation to two separate offences but did not turn up.

He was arrested on April 29 and was seen throwing away a grinder when he was taken to the cells.

The grinder was found to have cannabis in it and Clements was bailed until May 7.

However he failed to answer his bail and was later seen by police officers on May 15 who could smell cannabis on him and found 1.7 grams of the drug in his rucksack.

In interview following the first offence Clements told officers he had purchased his cannabis from the Co-op.

He said cannabis should be legalised and taxed, adding he would continue to use the drug.

Clements pleaded guilty to the two counts of possession and one charge of failing to answer police bail.

He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay a fine of £40 and a £20 victim surcharge.

Forfeiture and destruction of the drugs was also ordered.

A crooked accountant who managed accounts for people and businesses of Bideford has now been jailed.

Robert Carpenter a accounant from barnsaple kept his business running by submitting tax returns for cash rebates.

Mr Carpenter who is well known in North Devon and is evan a member of the Charted Insitate of managment accountants.

He was his own boss of his own business called accountancy services. Where he handlde many accounts across North Devon.

He start to become crooked in 2007 and carried it on untill 2012 when he was caught.Mr Carpenter who is now 64, from Recklake Close, Roundswell, Barnstaple, has addmitted two accounts od frauad. The firstinvolved 50,435.65 pounds in vat returns under a business called voicethrow LTD. which had rebates of 25,904.04 between the dates 2007 to 2012. The second was involving a business called accantacy services and payment from HM revenue and customs of 38,311.94 with vat returns of 46,649 between the dates 2007 and 2012.

Carpenter has now been jailed for 12 months by Judage Francis Gilbert, QC.
