IVAN MATETIĆ RONJGOV
Istaknuti skladatelj i folklorist rođen je u Ronjgima 10. travnja 1880. U
njegovoj rodnoj kući djeluje istoimena ustanova koja čuva identitet istarskoprimorske narodne glazbe. Naime, definiravši istarsku ljestvicu, folklorna
glazba Istre i Kvarnera našla je svoje mjesto u tonskom sustavu umjetničke
glazbe. To su zborovi Ćaće moj i Roženice te solo popijevke, crkvena i
instrumentalna djela.

The prominent composer and folklorist was born in the village of Ronjgi
on 10 April 1880. His birth house is today the seat of an association that
carries his name and whose objective is the preservation of traditional
music from Istria and the Littoral area. Ivan Matetić Ronjgov defined the
Istrian musical scale, which made it possible for folk music from Istria
and the Kvarner regions to become part of the tonal system of art music.
The local musical heritage includes a variety of choral, solo, church and
instrumental compositions.

U vrijeme pusta, ogrnuti ovčjim kožama i sa životinjskim maskama na glavi,
od davnina obilaze sela i svojom zvonjavom tjeraju zimu i najavljuju proljeće.
Upravo zbog svojih posebnosti i atraktivnosti, ophod zvončara upisan
je na UNESCO-vu reprezentativnu listu nematerijalne kulturne baštine
čovječanstva.
